Our History

Our journey began in the heart of Seoul, in the bustling district of Myeong-Dong. With only three members, our founder, Kim Sun Young, was determined to share her skills and ideas with other hairstylists through KSY educational schooling. At that time, we used kneaded coal briquettes to heat up curling irons, a testament to our commitment to innovation and quality, even in the face of adversity.

Fast forward to 1990, we opened our first salon in Los Angeles' Koreatown, where we quickly gained a reputation for our expertise in coloring and permanent waves. We've been a leader in the hair fashion industry ever since, continually pushing the boundaries of what's possible and setting trends that others follow.

We're particularly famous for our expertise in permanent waves, including magic straight perm, Japanese straightening perm, and hair rebonding. Our founder, Kim Sun Young, invented the first straight perm by using mixed natural ingredients with kelp in Seoul, Korea. This technique, known as 'Panel Straight', uses flat plastic panels to hold the hair while special ingredients are applied to achieve the ideal straightened hairstyle.
